CLINICAL CASES

Module 6 is the Clinical Cases module.  Learners on the Beginners (Provided Patients) Pathway will attend a 5-day Clinical Training Program with provided patients*. 

 

Learners who opt for the Beginners (Treat Own Patients) Pathway must carry out implant treatment on 3 of their own patients, with a self-nominated Local Mentor, within 3 years of the start date of the DipImpDent.** 

 

Learners on the Experienced Practitioner Pathway must submit 6 Case Reports before the last day of the course.***
 

Beginners (Provided Patients) Pathway:

On the Beginners (Provided Patients) Pathway delegates will attend a Dentale clinic in either Bristol, Stafford, or Shrewsbury for a 5 day Clinical Training Program with all patients provided for you.  All patient costs are covered by the course fee - there are no further 'hidden charges'.  Students will place at least 6 implantsSee here for dates and availability.

 

Beginners (Treat Own Patients) Pathway:

This option is open to UK and international dentists**.  The delegate will self-nominate a local colleague to act as their Local Mentor.  The delegate will treat 3 cases under the direct supervision of their Local Mentor.  Mentoring fees are not covered by the DipImpDent course fees on this pathway.  Mentoring fees must be agreed between the mentor and the mentee.  Learners may approach a mentor on our Accredited Mentors List or may nominate their own Local Mentor.  All Local Mentors who are not on the Accredited Mentors List must be approved by the Academy.  The Academy cannot guarantee that any mentor approached will agree to act as the Local Mentor.  The 3 mentored cases must be completed, and submitted to the Academy, wihtin 3 years of the start date of the DipImpDent course.

 

Experienced Practitioner Pathway:

The delegate will submit case reports of 6 cases that the delegate has treated independently in the delegate's own practice or hospital.  This option is open to UK and international dentists who have already independently treated a minimum of 20 implant cases and have at least 2 years experience in implant dentistry.  The case reports must be submitted before the last day of the course (30 June 2026). Delegates who are accepted onto this pathway will receive Approved Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) exemption from Module 2 (Preclinical Practical Skills Week).***

* The Beginners (Provided Patients) Pathway is only open to UK dentists with full GDC registration.

** * The Beginners (Treat Own Patients) Pathway is open to both UK and International dentists.  

***  Delegates on the Experienced Practitioner Pathway do not attend the Preclinical Practical Skills Week and are exempt from Module 2 assessments.
